ABOUT THE BOOK
Many people know they would like to do something special to acknowledge
a death, but are fearful they will do it "wrong" or people will become
upset by the experience. To deal with that anxiety, and suggest a variety
of ritual activities this Memorial Rituals Book for Healing and Hope
was developed. It is basically a "how-to" of bereavement rituals in
a variety of settings, utilizing holidays, group settings, retreats, churches/synagogues,
and conferences.
This is a book filled with activities to allow individuals,
families, and groups in bereavement support groups, at retreats, memorial
services, and conferences to acknowledge the death of a loved one or community
member in a gentle but effective way. The rituals include information about
the appropriate age for specific rituals, materials needed for them, a
description of how to go about creating them, and suggested meditations,
poems, and thoughts that can be read during rituals.
This book also has the rituals for various holidays
arranged according to the calendar year, with specific activities used
with children's groups, adult groups, with strangers and with families.
